"Languorous" Poem of Dr. Molly Joseph

 Languorous

      ...

Languorous
      the elders
in empty familes
where
     the youth have
fled, seeking
           fortunes...

the arm chair
              await
for a call
       from shores
distant...

the vaccum
          they left
yawns...

      memories
desires...

       desolation
accentuates
          ailments,
worries
     hover round
'who is to
        take care '

lucky you are
       if you have
your companion
        to relate to,
to care,
       quarrel with...
luckier if your
          health keeps
you engaged...

gone are those
        zestful days...

tired race horses
         on reprieve...

reclining
            staring at
 the  wall, its corners
touching
               the roof
where cobwebs
          form...
