the resurrection of the historic house museum of el Marabet family opted for the approach and The notion of "collective memory " That is originated from the philosopher and sociologist Maurice Halbwachs, in "La Memoire Collective" ("the Collective Memory", 1950). This extended thesis focuses on the role of people and place, and how the collective memory is not only associated with the individual but is a shared experience. It also sheds the light on the way individual memory is influenced by social structures, as a way of continuing socialisation by producing memory as collective experience.
"Each aspect, each detail, of this place has a meaningful intelligence only to the members of the group, for each portion of its space corresponds to various and different aspects of the structure and life of their society, at least of what is stable in it."
The restoration was based on the dialectics of memory, regarding the importance of the collective memory and how it is embedded in culture and place. It resides not only in a house or building, but it also resonates in outdoor space – particularly when a monumental event has occurred, therefore

The degree of authenticity was deeply considered in the restoration and creation of this historic house museum. The space Is truly authentic in terms of truly replicating and representing it ,once stood in its original form and appear to be untouched and left in time.

According to doctor Bcher Marabet , the Marabet's house ( 1884_1960/)was part of a residential complex of the Marabet El Ghraiani family consisting of a large house which was said to be a tree near the Zaouïa of our ancestor Sidi Abid with numerous elevations bounded by the street of sidi Abid, the main avenue of the souk and zanka dar El khadi.
In 2014, we began the restoration by saving the load-bearing walls and renewing the roof of the patio. We recovered the wall tiles which date back almost three centuries, eventually the roads and the masonry. Now the Aly is a liveable space with all the conveniences of modern life.
our main objective, my wife Rakia and I _who helped me so much to transcend this difficult task_ was to restore this heritage to regain its former glory.
the historic furniture in this residence has been revamped, as well as the decorations on the ceilings with the help of Kairouan craftsmen.

our approach for this restoration was to preserve the same character of ancient Time in order to show to all those who visit This house museum the achievements of our ancestors ,their finesse and their sublime taste and to transmit it to future generations as a testimony to the Marabet family who ruled kairoun for three centuries and his attachment to this eternal city, each stone of which is linked to the history of our country.
