Alam Mahbub: 3 poems to stop war.

1.May the World Be Free from War

Alam Mahbub

Country Bangladesh

“Peace is not merely a distant goal that we seek,

but a means by which we arrive at that goal.”

— Martin Luther King Jr.

Let the drums fall silent.

Not with surrender—

but with the stillness of understanding.

Let no more ১ a thread,

sewing humanity into one garment of breath.

Peace should not hang on dusty walls—

it must walk beside us, barefoot, named by no country

but recognized by every eye.

Let hands be held, not fists.

May rage be buried,

and hope remain wild, flowering, fearless.

Say No To War

Alam Mahbub

Country Bangladesh

“I object to violence because when it appears to do good, the good is only temporary; the evil it does is permanent.”

— Mahatma Gandhi

Say no to war, where fire feeds on flesh and bone,

Where homes collapse like shadows in a storm.

Where mothers wail in tongues the world won't own,

And silence screams from ruins stripped of form.

Say no to steel that knows not love nor grace,

To boots that crush the blossoms of a land.

Let not the sun bear witness to disgrace—

Of blood on leaves, not written by a hand.

Let peace be inked where once the missiles flew,

Let lullabies replace the fighter's song.

For every child, a sky of tranquil blue,

For every dusk, a place where hearts belong.

Raise not your voice with anger, but with care—

Say no to war, and breathe the freer air.

3. In the Name of Peace

Alam Mahbub

Country Bangladesh

“When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace.”

— Jimi Hendrix

In the silence between two distant breaths,

I plant a seed of stillness—

not to forget, but to forgive.

The moonlight carries folded prayers

from the lips of ruined cities.

Birds no longer sing of borders.

Peace does not come in armies,

but in the eyes of a child sleeping,

the scent of old books, a hand unclenched.

Even in cracked soil, a flower dares.

Let us write with water, speak through trees,

and become the echo that harms no one.
