Telemarketer’s Prayer

In Reference and Deference to Those I am Calling

Heavenly Father, I pray for you to lighten their burden
that their day may be better than mine from this point
and that I may have the chance to serve them again.
In Jesus Name,
Amen.

The Real Story about Steve O’Brien

I am like Buddha.
I breathe in, I breathe out.
I drive all of you to your homes
around 1:30 in the morning, get four,

maybe five hours of sleep, get up, work
until after my hands and knees ache, fight
dragons you could never handle, and smile.

February Blues

I am snowed in.
I can’t visit with my friends.
My featured readings are postponed.
I can’t even go to church.
Wiarton Willie lied.

Honour

Today I am here to honour
the memory of Rob Harrison.
The Harrison family welcomed
me into theirs over fifty years ago.

We have had so many shared
experiences which I will
treasure always.

Robbie fought valiantly.
He was an example for us all
of how to hope for better times
and just for the joy of another day.

I am proud of Robbie, and grateful
he is part of my life. Let us appreciate
what his Mother and brothers have
been through and pray for them.

When the day is done
and the struggle has ended
the only thing that matters is love.

Find My Way

When I was young I wanted to find my way.
When I got older I thought I had found it
and wanted everyone to agree with me.
I got a little older and learned how to live
a different way and act like I was happy.
After that I started to grow up and find
the way to really become myself.

I am older than I ever thought I would be.
The adolescent angst of self-determination
has not completely left. However, I realize
whatever side of whatever fence you
are on, whether we agree or disagree
or agree to disagree, we all must find
the way to peace.
