Horizon's Glow
A full golden orb
on the mountaintop,
slowly sinking from sight.
And now—what an afterglow!
As if the sea itself is surging with fire,
and its flames mirror the farthest reach,
As if it has fallen upon a stretched autumn,
causing the leaves to light up its high horizon
with a violet‐tinged reflection.
My eyes have a veranda that stores hues.
From its golden face, I shape a lantern,
from the tones of twilight, I fashion
inks for paintings unlike any other.
When night descends, deep and dark,
I hang it above my art table
to see where its light will guide me
in the realm of the Muse.
My brushes harbor
what I have treasured of colors
to spill and inscribe the sunrise glow,
so beauty may remain alive
within my veins.
