Let Us Rise
By Author Haroon Rashid
It aches, oh, how it aches—
this heart, this soul, this shared humanity.
I see the world tear itself apart,
twisting tragedies into weapons of division,
shattering lives that were meant to bloom.
Lives matter—
in Gaza, in Los Angeles,
in Palestine, in Israel,
in the shadowed streets of Syria,
and in every forgotten corner of this earth.
Suffering wears no badge of status,
it knows no boundary of class or creed.
Pain is a universal language,
spoken by the child with tear-streaked cheeks,
by the mother clutching prayers in trembling hands,
by the father fighting shadows for his family’s tomorrow.
The innocent—always the innocent—
pay the price for the wicked.
Their dreams are the currency
of battles they never chose.
But we, you and I,
we can rise above this storm.
We can tear down the walls of hate,
brick by brick,
with compassion as our hammer,
and truth as our chisel.
Prayers for all—
for the light to pierce this darkness,
for humanity to remember it
