Baghdad – A new edition of a distinctive book titled “Dreams of the Wood Player – An Aesthetic Journey with Nasir Shamma and His Music” by the late writer and researcher Hadhir Miri has been published by the General Directorate of Cultural Affairs at the Iraqi Ministry of Culture.

This publication represents an in-depth critical and aesthetic study of the experience of the world-renowned artist and musician Nasir Shamma—not merely as a musician, but as a comprehensive intellectual, aesthetic, and human phenomenon reflecting the depth of creative experience in contemporary Arabic music.

The book provides an analytical reading of the world of the oud, which, in Shamma’s hands, transformed from a mere musical instrument into a living, breathing entity and a window for opening horizons, invoking memory, and reaching toward the universal human. Through its chapters, the author traces how Shamma was able to shape wood into a language capable of expressing joy, protest, and dreams, making his performance an act of resistance against ugliness and a declaration of loyalty to beauty.

Hadhir Miri chronicles Nasir Shamma’s journey from his earliest beginnings in Iraq, through the establishment of the Arab House of Oud in multiple Arab and international capitals, to global recognition as one of the leading musical voices that redefined the identity of the oud with a personal and humanistic expression.

The author points out that Shamma’s experience transcends musical performance, building a cultural and humanistic discourse that carries a message against war and violence and advocates values of love, freedom, and beauty as the highest forms of human art.

The book situates Shamma’s experience within both Arab and global contexts, revealing the deep connection between his music and collective sentiment, and illustrating how he founded a school of aesthetic perception of the Arabic musical note before it was approached as merely a technical aspect of performance.

صدور كتاب "أحلام عازف الخشب – رحلة جمالية مع نصير شمه وموسيقاه" عن دائرة الشؤون الثقافية العامة في بغداد

بغداد – صدرت عن دائرة الشؤون الثقافية العامة في وزارة الثقافة العراقية طبعة جديدة من كتابٍ نوعي بعنوان «أحلام عازف الخشب – رحلة جمالية مع نصير شمه وموسيقاه» للكاتب والباحث الراحل حضَيّر ميري.

يمثل هذا الإصدار دراسة نقدية وجمالية معمقة في تجربة الفنان والموسيقار العالمي نصير شمه، لا بوصفه موسيقارًا فحسب، بل بوصفه حالة فكرية وجمالية وإنسانية متكاملة تعكس عمق التجربة الإبداعية في الموسيقى العربية المعاصرة.

يقدم الكتاب قراءة تحليلية لعالم آلة العود، التي تحولت بين يدي شمه من مجرد أداة موسيقية إلى كائنٍ حيٍّ نابضٍ بالروح، ونافذةٍ لفتح الأفق واستحضار الذاكرة والعبور نحو الإنسان الكوني. ومن خلال فصوله، يتتبع المؤلف كيف استطاع شمه أن يصوغ من الخشب لغةً قادرةً على التعبير عن الفرح، والاحتجاج، والحلم، جاعلاً من العزف فعل مقاومة ضد القبح وإعلان ولاء للجمال.

يرصد حضَيّر ميري مسيرة نصير شمه منذ بداياته الأولى في العراق، مرورًا بتأسيسه بيت العود العربي في أكثر من عاصمة عربية وعالمية، وصولًا إلى احتفاء العالم به كأحد أبرز الأصوات الموسيقية التي أعادت صياغة هوية آلة العود بصوتٍ شخصيٍّ وإنسانيٍّ الطابع.

يشير الكاتب إلى أن تجربة شمه تجاوزت حدود الأداء الموسيقي نحو بناء خطاب ثقافي وإنساني يحمل رسالة ضد الحرب والعنف، ويدعو إلى قيم المحبة والحرية والجمال بوصفها أرقى أشكال الفن الإنساني.

كما يضع الكتاب تجربة نصير شمه في سياقها العربي والعالمي، كاشفًا عن التواصل العميق بين موسيقاه والوجدان الجمعي، وكيف أسس مدرسة في الحس الجمالي للنوتة العربية الشرقية قبل أن تكون تقنيّة في العزف والأداء.
