Mohamed Rahal - An article about BAFTA awards

The Royal Festival Hall in London witnessed a noisy night last night, amidst an atmosphere full of pride and love together, on the occasion of the launch of the British Academy of Film and Television Awards, known as the “BAFTA” Awards 2025.

The ceremony - which is held annually after the Grammys - witnessed the celebration of the best that cinema has presented in the United Kingdom and abroad, amid a large gathering of international cinema stars.

However, the “BAFTA” Awards came at a very difficult time for the industry. This year looks different compared to previous years. The BAFTA Award for Rising Stars was presented by previous winners “Letitia Wright” and “James McAvoy” to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the award. Emilia Perez’s Golden Globe-winning film earlier this year received 11 nominations. The Brutalist, an epic drama starring Adrien Brody, received nine nominations, while Wicked, Anora and Dune: Part 2 each received seven nominations. Timothée Chalamet’s biopic A Complete Unknown also received six nominations, along with Irish film Kneecap, while Nosferatu and The Substance each received five nominations. The ceremony included a number of entertainment events. Most notably, British music legend Take That performed his hit song “Greatest Day” from the film “Anora”. The Brutalist also won the BAFTA for Best Cinematography and Best Director. Corbett said there was no such thing as Best Director. "It's a joke," he said, tipping his hat to all the other directors nominated for the award in recognition, and thanking BAFTA for the great honor. Kieran Culkin also won the BAFTA for Best Supporting Actor for his role in Real Pain, which writer and director Jesse Eisenberg won. He also starred in the film, and won Best Original Screenplay. Madison said in her acceptance speech that her mother was her favorite scene partner. She thanked her for driving her to so many auditions and helping her put together audition tapes. Director Brody also thanked his fellow nominees and BAFTA, as well as the British organizers. “I want to thank the British public for embracing me and my creative endeavors,” he said. “England has felt like home lately.” He also thanked Brody and his partner Mona Fastvold for their artistic integrity and perseverance.
